Save lots of money on the dollar bill.
Over the years I have stashed and collected tips on how to, fix, repair, mend, make, build, shine, clean, remove, store, fill, using regular household items that are in most kitchen cupboards. My mother could save a buck. I used to think she was a bit frugal but quite the contrary, she was the greatest, She was clever, witty, creative, and had much wisdom and knowledge. Mom left me with some great tid bits along the way with grandma, aunts, friends, dads, handy men, seniors, nurses, teachers, friends, co-workers and others who have contributed to the cause of saving money.
What did they do that is different from today? They made their own. Of course many might think as I did not to many years ago. There are family dollar stores all around the city, valleys, mountains, deserts so why bother when one can purchase an item such as funitre polish so inexpensive. The Old Wood Ladder.
Do you need more room in your bungalow? Do you have pots, pans, books, comforters, knick knacks taking up to much space? Are there items you would love to show off but have no room in which to do so? Do they remain stored away in a plastic container or an old box in the garage or under the bed?
Well here is a fun end all to clutter or over stuffed cupboards. Get your self an old wood ladder. You might have one or two hanging out in the garage. Keep your eyes open at yard sales or at stores that sell used items.
Be creative what are you hanging? What is your goal? You can saw the ladder into several pieces depending on desired use. You can stain, paint or sand up the ladder.
Hang it with rope, chain, fishing or picture wire from the ceiling of the kitchen or garage. Where ever you heart desires. Be sure to use strong nuts and bolts. You can pick up old metal hangers and clip them and then twist them and design a hanger. Hang up those pots and pans, coffee cups, dish towels. Your the boss and this can be a really fun item to make. Walla more storage so you can fill those cupboards again with more stuff. You can make classy, savvy or sassy its your call, you choose.
If you have a collection of comforters, blankets, Afghans or the likes cut the legs down a bit and hang them for a nice display or lean against the wall. Bring out Grandmas quilts and show them off.
If you have too many plants or knick knacks guess what you now have a plant stand and you can show off other precious goods.
If you need more room in your bath then use part of the ladder and hang on the wall or get clever and hang from the ceiling. Hang towels or put your favorite soaps and hair products on display. You could amaze yourself and others with your craftsmanship in wood working and art.
This could be a fun family thing with the toddler or teenagers room! They can actually hang up their favorite hoodie on a hanger, on the ladder, hanging from the ceiling. You can take those 59 stuffed animals and tie a rope and hang some with clothes pins while the other little critters sit on the ladder steps. The idea here is have fun with your kiddo. You just may get in a word of wisdom while working on this adventure of cleaning up the room idea together.
The sky is the limit on this one. So if you see a ladder hanging around do not walk around it or under it, get it. It can come in very handy at your over stuffed household.
With Love,
Skye
Make furniture polish and more
Make Quality Furniture Polish
Mix 1/3 c. Vinegar 2/3 c. Olive Virgin Oil ( Crisco Oil works almost as well) Mix together in a spray bottle and shake well. Be sure to label Furniture Polish using a permanent marker. Shake before each use. The vinegar takes the grime away while the oil makes the shine. This is one of my favorite's. I have not purchased furniture polish in years! This is only pennies on the dollar to make. A real keeper at my household.
