Why Do Men Continue Going To The Hair Salons?

Updated on August 31, 2011

My Men in the Chair

My Loyal Men

Men in the Hair Salon are my most favored clientele. Do not get me wrong woman, I adore my female clientele. This story is based on my experience, although I know of many female stylist's that feel as I do about their men clients. When men sit in your chair for the first time for the most part they are as nervous as a new female client that is going to put her trust into your expertise as a professional. Most male clients that walk into a salon are referrals. Some are referred by their wife's, girlfriends, sister, brother or another male clients. Not often does a male 'walk in' the Hair Salon searching for a stylist.

My goal as a hairstylist of eighteen plus years was to build a solid foundation then to move on to booth rental. Booth Renter is by far the most freeing and profitable choice. To be my own boss and choose the hours I wanted to work was a goal worth working for. I also have a choice as to who sits in my chair. Hair stylist's are not doormats. The majority of individuals are amazing, some very picky or panicky, others obnoxious, people are different mixes as are hair stylist's. Men tend to be in tune with the 'ora' the female stylist generates and respect who they are. I honor this in them.

Men like to be pampered as much as woman. Once a trust is built your male client will be loyal for many years to come. My husband and I read 'Men from Mars, Women form Venus' many years ago. Men are obviously different in their thinking and rationele. Men think more in black and white. In other words ' here is a stylist I like' She cuts my hair how I like, I trust her judegement. Men are cut and dry. Kinda like Amen to that. Women tend to have more of the grey matter lots of questions, making sure the fit is right.

Men clients like to book prior to leaving the salon.Unlike my female thinking I usually have to call for appointments closer to the time because something may be going on very important.(laugh) Men are no fuss no muss loyal clients. They are on time.ready to go. Of course personality's are all different but men love to relax so a nice shampoo and conversation is a treat for them. Men believe in your your choice for them. They will purchase the the shampoo you recommend, or get a hair color for a more youthful look or perhaps a manicure.

If I get sick or I need to change their appointment they are most accommodating and make no big deals. I have offered they use another stylsit they will wait until I am better and can fit them in. Most male clients are very generous. They lay the money down, and the correct change. I believe they 'think' since I booth rent I prefer cash. Cash is nice, any form will do but yes the green stuff is the favored choice. At Christmas time I usually get blessed with a card and a Blessing inside. I feel honored to have such wonderful male clients. God is so good. Men can be an awesome lot.

It seems the longer they come to me the more cash they lie down. I treat them with all due respect and TLC. Like a soldier they will watch out for me. I thank God for the men he has put into my chair. They have been a joy and honor to know. So since this is a thumbs up hub for the men in our live's. I give the men at the Hair Salon who treat their stylist in a manner of respect way big thumb's up. Thank you for the kindness, and your no muss no fuss way of thinking. It blesses our career.and our lives. I wish there were more of you, in my chair.

If you do not treat your stylist this way, it is time to step up to the plate, take good care of her. She will watch your back, just like a good soldier. If you do not have a good stylist find one they are out there, trust me. I know plenty.

With Love, Hugs to Male Clients.
