Never, Never Give Up On God Through His Son, Jesus Christ
81ISM I Self Me, disease
A week ago I woke up and I was faced with the decision to help rescue or refuse to help a loved one in trouble. The drinking had been an issue for a long time. The consequences it placed on him before availed little to stop him from taking another drink. The drink is stronger then the will. If that were not so there would be millions of families spared grief and pain from alcoholism.
There were times I saw this person fall to their knees and surrender. I heard this person speak the heavenly language. This man loves the Lord God. He knows him as his personal Savior. I saw him read the word with fervor. I saw a person that was ill. I saw a person God created for a purpose. I saw love in this man. He did not love himself. I never had to beat him up because he did a good job on himself. I also know the illness. It is an illness that lies to you. It is the only illness that tells you you do not have one. Denial is not a river in Egypt. Party is over, did not have fun, spoiled the evening, feel rotten the next day, said some miserable things, repent, swear it off, feel better. The next time comes, only one.drink. It is the first drink that gets you drunk. You forgot.
I am sharing this true story with you because for me it has been one of never, never give up on your prayer. If one individual can get a sense of hope, inspiration or encouragement then take what you need. It is by the Grace of God I am not dead today because of my drinking. I am grateful that I have many years of sobriety. In Jesus I give all the Glory. God answers our prayer's. He did not give up on me. If I believe His word, then He hears our prayer's. He tells us.' He will never leave nor forsake us.' Hebrews 3:13.
Never give up on what God can and will do for you. If your safety is threatened, there are measures to take. You may have to take drastic measures for your own sanity. You may have to detach from the person, you may have to move, separate or divorce. The enemy would love to use the obstacle to take you from Jesus. God has his timing for everything. Do not loose hope in Christ for your situation or the person you pray for.
If you knew a cancer patient and you pray they will get better and heal do you give up on your prayer? Do not accept the devil's lies. I am sure people hated the repulsive things I did. I lost friends. I lost allot. People were still praying for me. You may deplore the ground the person walks on. It is not worth it. It takes your energy. Pretend you do not hate, until you get there. In doing so you will find a space of compassion in your heart for the ill person.
I heard the phone ring at 1:30 AM. I did not answer. I did not want to hear the other end. I asked God to please rock me back to sleep. When I woke up it was 7:00 AM. A sense of doom swept over me. Oh my God I hated this pit in my stomach. It was all to familiar. My thoughts were moving as quickly as a hummingbird going to and fro for his nectar. I felt like I was going to fall down. Then, I would crawl to the bathroom, I thought. Oh my God. I managed getting to the bathroom.
I felt like I was in a movie. I was the star and no one was filming me. Only God knew my pain. My little dog Benji was consoling me. I chuckled in the midst of my 'insanity'. Dog, God spelled back wards. I breathed in and out. I got my coffee and grabbed my Bible. I prayed and meditated for two hours. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the most wonderful gift anyone could have in their lifetime. The name that saves. Man will let us down. God doeslet us down.He does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Hebrews 13:8
I had an inner strength and calm. I was grateful I prayed before listening to the message from the Police. The enemy wants me all crazy and angry. The devil can take his lies and get out of Dodge. I have my sword, the name of Jesus. The devil flees at HIs name like a jack rabbit being hunted. Oh Praise be to God Almighty for the empowerment God has given His children through Jesus Christ. The 'Name' that is above every name.
When I felt I could not walk Jesus carried me. I choose Jesus. It is a choice one must make in this lifetime. Who will we follow, Jesus Christ or the enemy of our souls, Satan? I can not imagine life without the love of Jesus. In my own skin I am a wimp, in fear, hopeless, helpless and restless. In Jesus I am on fire. I have a life of adventure, not defeat. I have victory. I have the assurance of eternal life. God says he can turn all things for good for those that love him. He did not say some things, but ALL things. Romans 8:28 The phone message said. 'I have so in so at the Police Department'. He can be released to you. Please call Officer Soinso. Well God had another plan. I was not suppose to pick him up Sunday morning at 1:30 AM while he was intoxicated. God was watching my back.
I felt anger rise up in me. I had missed church. In a couple of hours I am booked to go a clients home to color, cut and style her hair. Gods Blessing is on me. He knows how I need the money. My flesh does not want to go into the cold and clear the snow from the car let alone drive. God has His reasons for all things. I do not need to go figure. I made the commitment and I need to follow through. I do not need to question God. I thank God and praise His glorious Name. I ask the Lord for a double dose of super natural energy.
I call the three diffrent detox centers searching for my freind, MIA. The employess are not allowed to give out any nformation on who is there or not. I guess one is to drive all over the county searching for their lost freind. I was told by all the centers, " I can not tell you if that person is here, I would run down the hall to give him this message but I do not need to do that." Do you see my drift here? I know it is God taking me through the course of action. I call the police dispatch at I am put on hold. The precious woman went the the extra mile to help me. The dispatch comes back to tell me, "He is in the County Jail'. My heart skips a beat or two or three. I ask," any injuries". 'No, picked up for a DUI.' Oh Praise to God no one is hurt.
I call my twin sister and I cry. She encourages me with the love of Jesus. I then get to the INTERNET. In one hundred years I would not have landed on this site. or thought of this site. There is no charge for the Salvation Army an in house alcohol treatment program. They are run on donations. I call and there is one space open for a 90 day program. They will hold the bed for 24 hours. God answers our prayers. Never never give up on Jesus Christ. He loves all. When God opens a door no man can shut it. I know what I must do as led by the Sprit of God. I know that I know. I call the jail and when they are good and ready they will release my freind sometime today. There is no bail.
I go to my clients home. She is hard of hearing and I literally need to shout. It takes allot of enery to do her hair. I felt my energy draining from me. Jesus holds me up because I feel so tired. Phil 4:13. I get a phone call as I am finishing up Bettie's hair. My freind calls from the jail and is released. My flesh wants to act out and I feel like raging into the phone but I do not. God molds and shapes His children. We change from the inside out when born again. Anger is not the answer. My freind is beating himself up enough I am sure of that without me casting stones like I am all that. I am not all that but God is all that. My client pays me well and I am off to the county jail.
The roads are snow packed and icy. It is over 30 miles. I pray the whole way. I have an inner peace, this is not me. This is the Love of Christ in me. I am aware, I am in the moment. My mind is not wandering all over the place. This is a miracle. I play the song on my ipod over and over. The song, 'Holding your Hand' is posted in the side column, You will be Blessed.
I am not sharing this story with you to be self righteous. I am only made righteous by the blood of Jesus. I share it with permission. Our prayer is that the love of God may touch a hurting heart or encourage a hopeless soul. Life can be brutal. You are not alone. Beyond every stumbling block or obstacle is an opportunity for you or I to do something others won't do because of fear or doubt. Those are lies of the enemy. It would be easy for me to give up on this person. The few that knew of this struggle said I should dust my boots and move on. I did not because God is all good not because I am. I hink many thought I was crazy when I said 'No, God can turn all things for the good.' Romans 8:28
Our stories are testimonies of Gods love for us. They are opportunities to share the goodness of God and the news of salvation. God has a destiny for each one of us. He shapes and molds us into where he wants us. Some stand on the shore line and will not get into the boat to go to the other side out of fear. Others will get into the boat and fear the storm when they take their eyes from Jesus. Kind of like Peter. He was walking on the water to meet Jesus. When he took his eyes from Jesus to the storm he went in and started to sink. Jesus heard Peters cry, 'Lord save me.' and pulled him up from the raging waters. You have to hand it to Peter he tried. Trusting in Jesus will get us where we need to go. It is not always easy. In fact there are trials and tribulations and persecutions we will have to face along the way. So get into the boat and trust God. He will never leave nor forsake us. Hebrews 13:3
Jesus never gave up on the,' woman at the well.' Jesus told her, 'go and sin no more'. She was forgiven. She is now in one of the greatest storiers in the BIble, she is famous. God uses ordinary people for extraordinary events. Millions and millions probably billions have heard her story of salvation through Jesus Christ. There are times we feel we are are falling off of the edge. Do not focus on the storm. Christ will turn the huge storm into a calm and get us through. He is for us not against us. Hebrews 3:15 Keep your eyes up, on Jesus. Do not focus on the storm.
Paul speaks of opportunities. Paul never gave up. He had his moments, he was human. Paul so loved Jesus and had great faith. Paul said, 'a great door for opportunity opens and it was effective but there were many challenges and much opposition.'Do not let door number two make you believe God never did open it because it is not easy once inside, do not walk away' Corinthians 16:9 I think of how Christ used people less likely to succeed, according to that of the world. They accomplished great and mighty things for Christ.
Do not let stumbling blocks turn you away from Christ. Focus on what you have. You have breath, life, a will to live. Do not focus on limitations or the problem. Keep God in the equation, do not let the enemy trip you up. Speak strength, favor, and opportunity into your situation. When you factor in God on the occasion you will learn to count it all joy.
I get to the jail. Well out walks Mr. Humble pie. It is freezing outside and he has no coat. My, oh my. I tell him I do not want to speak because I may pull over and slap him silly. It was a long ride. Finally, I asked, 'now what'? David tells me he wants to get well. He wants to get into a program with a 24/7 safety net. A Biblical program, if at all possible. The odds of the Salvation Army having a bed is slim. When there seems like no way God makes the way. Phil. 2:13-14 The wait of a several weeks is common. That time could literally kill some. The criteria is simple. You need an ounce of willingness. If you drink you are gone from the program. If you do not follow the program you are gone.
The following day I dropped off David my husband and freind of 15 years at the Salvation Army. The treatment program for 90 days will change his life. My life will change. God has plans for all of His creation. God can use Davids testimony to touch other hearts. God knows, He redeems, restores, heals. Never, never, never give up on God. The enemy with his lies wants us to get mad or discouraged and walk away from God. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus Christ the Saviour of the World. God hears our requests and He answers prayer. 'Trust in the Lord God with all your heart mind and soul. Lean not on your own understanding but acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your path.' Mark 12:30
With Love in Christ.

Thanks Skye for sharing this personal story. It helps to remind us that whatever we face in our daily lives is never a wasted experience and if used wisely will help us to grow for the purpose that we were created for. I believe that God constantly gives us situations to shape our being so that we're better equipped to serve Him in His mission.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing and when we look back it's easy to realise the purpose behind why certain things happened in our lives. But at that time, when there was perhaps a storm over us, it was difficult to see the purpose but we must understand and mustn't forget there is God's purpose in everything significant that takes place in our lives.
Personally through the most difficult and challenging times in my life, I've seen that I've learnt the most and it's made me a much better and stronger person.
In tough times, it's easy to give up when faced by what appears to be insurmountable odds but with a little faith and hope, God always provides us with what we need and at just the right time too.
Great message Skye and thanks for sharing this with us.
God bless you.
You know god's word says that we are living epistles read of all men. Our lives are a living testament to god's grace and mercy toward us. We are read by the saved and unsaved and I can honestly say that you are an awesome chapter for the kingdom of God!! I am encouraged in my life just reading your story. God bless and keep you and everyone connected to you! I know that God is honoring your prayer for David as he honors David for seeking his face. I bind to you in Jesus name the peace that surpasses all understanding!

You have a natural story telling ability. This was deep and beautifully told! Nice to find someone of strong faith. Love to you, sister.
Thank you for this wonderful and lots of love hub, God Bless you :)
I haven't read all of your stuff yet. So far, I love it! And this is my favorite line-I ask for a double dose of super natural energy.
i recently had the motor go out in my car. i was told by a friend that i must start praying right then. of course it wasn't something i wanted 2 hear @ a time like this, but when i prayed, God heard, & He answered. God knew i really liked my car a lot. He revealed 2 me a '99 gold ford taurus. i know God works in mysterious ways. He knows my $$$ is limited, & He knows the car i lost was in mint cond B4 the motor went out. however, God knowing my high expectations, has revealed the replacement car WILL b in mint cond. the car's name will b goldie. i now need every 1's prayers 2 find/bring goldie home
Wow,David, also my husband of 15 years! What a powerful testimony of God's love for us and how He moves in our lives, If we don't give up. This would be a good testimony to put in print also to pass out to encourage others. My testimony is similar to this, except, I was David! Praise God for deliverance!
Sweet loving child of God....this has been the hardest trial for you.....as you said once, you and I are on the same path in more ways than one....many more ways than one and this hub has given me the faith not to give up....though our trials may be that no one but ourselves and God understand, it is so hard not to give up....when we feel this way, the armor of our Lord protects us in ways we are unable to believe, unless we do....May the Lord give you strength my friend in Christ....may He shower you with the love you have for Him.....
Sky2day, my friend, God bless you and David. This ordeal will prove to strengthen you both. I have been sober for 23 years. My father was sober for 23 years. Strange I just put that together for the first time. We quit drinking the same year. His alcoholism caused the divorce between he and my mother, the separation between my father and I both in miles and emotionally (I did not see him for about 12 years), my down spiral and eventually I began drinking at the age of 15. I did not drink while pregnant but began again after my pregnancies. I finally quit for good when my second son was about 6 months old. I finally realized I was an alcoholic and I did not want to be one, like my father was. God was very good to me. I was able to quit easily and never put my family through pain due to alcohol. I simply drank every day, a pitcher of Margaritas with a girlfriend of mine who lived in the same apartment complex. But, I new I really wanted it! I was hooked. God can do anything if we give Him the chance to.
Thank you for sharing your story with us and I will keep you and David in prayer.
I am thinking about giving up...........
Skye2Day, Praise God! So glad to hear that David is doing so much better and on the mend, gaining weight, looking better and especially at PEACE! All are very good signs... How wonderful that the two of you can REJOICE together for a while!
May the Lord continue to Keep you in His care as you allow His Light to shine through you! May David continue to be strengthened and allow the Lord to mold him... What wonderful Blessings and stay encouraged! Love & Hugs!
Hey, Jesus put it in my spirit to come back here to see how David was making out. Just like Pastor C said! Never give up! Never. Music to my ears also.
What I learned from my experience was that substance abuse was not the only thing the enemy used. For me, it was other things and the Bishop I work with these days long ago saw the Joshua Spirit in me.
The one that says, "I made the decision." Fight it out. You've got a solid spirit, sister.
The one that also says "quitting is not an option." Giving up is never the option and your testimony is a true inspiration.
Amen to this one...I relate 100%! Been there, done that! Yes, it's true, Never give up!
skye2day, If You keep this up you will have me hooked. You write so much from the Heart the Truth rings through like a Bell. You are a Blessing to the Hubpages Family. God Bless You.

Your hope and trust in God is revealed through the beautiful words written in this hub. You love BIG and you never give up! That's a testimony and example to all of us who claim the name of Jesus. David is a blessed man indeed! God never gives up either and for that I am eternally grateful. I pray you continue to find your strength in Him. He is guiding you and filling you with supernatural hope in a sure thing ... It will be so awesome to read what God is up to ... as He completes the work He began in David's life. I pray God's love and strength wash over both of you and that He delivers your dear one from the oppression that has overtaken him... God is greater than he that is in the world. I send love and hugs to you dear girl!

Nice, nice, very nice hub. Thank you for a very inspirational hub. Have yourself a wonderful Christmas!
You are such a blessing and I will keep you and him in constant prayer. God is getting ready to do great thins for both of you and thank you for sharing your story. :)
This is a very powerful testimony Skye2day. You are right, never give up! I am so encouraged! God bless you and I will be looking forward to read all your hubs. Merry Christmas!
i enjoyed this journey, god bless
Skye2day, I pray that David comes through this like gold refined in the fire. You know the drinking is to dull His pain.... I say this not to make excuses but to have compassion. Life can be cruel sometimes and when you are not at your strongest it can take you on a detour. Continue to hold on to the Lord and remember the good times... He will bring you through this, In Him you will have the VICTORY!!!
How fitting that David is with the Salvation Army! This is truly spiritual warfare! I pray that the Lord strengthens him and he comes out as a strong warrior as David who slew Goliath! Skye2day keep looking up my sister! God has gifted you in many areas! He has so much more in store for the two of you! Bless you for your commitment, May the FRUIT of HIS SPIRIT continue to flourish in your life! May His favor & Peace rest upon you! Love & Blessings to You and David... Never give up!
Thank you skye2day for sharing such, moving and powerful hub of Gods answered prayers in your life. We can do all things in Christ which strengthens us. Blessings. creativeone59
Skye2day, Wonderful heartfelt testimony! As you so wonderfully stated: "The enemy went after the ones that would be a witness for the Savior. The enemy tried to do what it took to take them down. They kept faith in Jesus. Most of those individuals are 'famous' in the Bible. They fought for Jesus. They committed their ways to him. Millions or billions have salvation because Christ used them in a mighty way. We know of these men and woman. One day we will see and meet them. How awesome is that? So never give up on what God is doing in your life. He knows your story, he wrote it. Trust in Jesus. Deny Jesus and you deny the Father God."
Again wonderful! Yes, God never gives up on us! The JOY of the LORD is your strength! Thank you for sharing, Blessings!
hello skye2day,
isn't it good to know that God doesn't give up on us. God is faithful and just, and if we'll confess our sin, he will forgive. God loved you and I, and all, too much to leave us in the wretched condition that he found us.
As I was reading the old rose up and reminded me of my years, the years that you have seen the years that David has seen as the road is amiliar to those who suffer with this affliction.
I hit rock bottom 35 years ago, a sad story, a trail of desturction and pain and suffering for the many who loved me. I know it was through their prayers that I stepped free, it was through everyones prayers and God's will that I survived You know His love and you know His healing grace as I do. I stand in prayer with you over this time for David. May the Father touch him deeply this time and may he be healed.
Blessings
A great testimony and so personal. Thanks. It gives one food for thought spiritually and it's very encouraging. I pray and know God will see you both through and His name be glorified in your lives.
Lovely to read from you again and wish you and your family a Beautiful Xmas. Will email you before then.
Love and Hugs. Elena

Kimberly You are just precious. I did not get notice of this comment or I would have written sooner. I am so sorry. I just happened to come by this hub to check the stats. Boy this has had allot of readers. I Thank God.
He is the man! Thank you for such a warm comment to me. I do have a couple of ideas for an easier Bible to follow. I need to do a bit of research. I will get back to you very soon OK.
Girl I know that Jesus is the way, truth and life. He can even take your agoraphobia from you. He is the Healer. Bless your heart. Do you know you are loved by me and JESUS? He died on the Cross for all of our wretched sins mine included so we could be forgiven through His Blood.
I will be happy to put something on your site. I need to get back to you, because tomorrow is Easter and I have some things to take care of. Easter Jesus rose from the dead and defeated the Devil so we could have eternal life with Him in the Light. SO we could live a Blessed Life. SO we celebrate HIS resurrection without it we would be Hell Bound. Now HIS children that believe and ask Him are Heaven Bound. Anyway Jesus loves you. I will see what I can come up with K? I am sending you a warm hug of love. Be Blessed Kimberly.
Love You.
