A Condition of the Heart

Often times an individual is perceived by others based on the condition of their obvious heart. One could be given over as a generous heart, a kind heart, a meek heart, a precious heart or given to a heart of love, a sweetheart, a gentle heart or known to have a heart of gold or a humbled heart. Some are known to have a wicked or evil heart. Maybe like King David your are a man after Gods own heart. Maybe you have come across as a hard heart at some point in your life and rightfully so, thank you. Maybe you are a little of all of the above or a lot of one or none of the above. The heart could have many different conditions. God knows the condition of our hearts. God places desires on our heart to be discovered and opened up for His glory, plans and good purpose. Maybe you never considered your heart and its condition. Where is your heart today and what is your heart fixed on?

Today in an ever changing world where evil is prevalent and the economy is falling by the wayside maybe what you thought was going to be your security for the future has been shaken so the condition of your heart could be heavy laden and tired. Maybe you are not sure of what or who to believe in any longer. Maybe you just feel let down and have a troubled heart. Maybe you would like to take a closer look at your heart. Maybe your heart has been conditioned and is a bit hard towards God. Maybe the trials you have faced has made you to wonder about the God of the universe. Jesus warns us to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.(Phil 4:4-9)

This writing is not about the atheist although they are blatant and firm and publicly deny there is a God. This is a hardened heart. Their hearts are hardened from believing God is the creator of the universe. The Bible tells us we are all born with an innate sense to know God. So if it is sin and the atheist deny God so he can continue in his sin or if a situation turned their heart from God or if they are ignorant about the Saviour of the world Jesus Christ, I do not know. It is heart breaking, I do not see how they could go on in this life day in and day out without hope for a future, after this life. Worse is where their destination is for eternity. Not to know what glorious blessings they are missing now and into eternity is heart wrenching and tragic. May God bend their hearts to Him, before it is too late.

The Bible considers the heart to be the central core of our personality producing the things we usually liken to the mind; grief, desires, joy, understanding, thoughts, reasoning and most important of all, faith and belief. (Hebrews 3:12, Genesis 6:5, Mark 2:8) . The heart is storage for good and evil and cumulative. What comes from our mouth good or bad begins in the heart. (Luke 6:43-45)

Do not let yourself drift out of Gods safe harbor. We need to anchor our lives in Jesus Christ. Warnings come with health products. Warnings also come from Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 3:7-11) Today if you will hear Gods voice do not harden your hearts.( Hebrews 4:7) A hard heart is about people that get calloused against God. Today is Gods Word. The enemy comes to tell us tomorrow. The road of tomorrow leads to the town of nowhere and never. Every time we continue and not respond to God our hearts get a little harder. Behold now is the time. Now is the day of salvation.(11 Corinthians. 6:2) The space in between is time the enemy works. He talks us into not doing what God wants us to do

We can look around the world today and see how hearts have been hardened from God. We are faced with a terrible dilemma without Gods help in our nation, let alone in all of the world. There is a 30% decline in the marriage institution since 1992. It is easier to split apart if two are not committed to one another. We see the abortion clinics literally lie to pregnant mothers and tell them they have nothing more then tissue growing inside of the womb at this point in time. The Bible is taken out of the school system and the mention of God or prayer is banned from school property, lest any be offended in the name of God. History books reprinted today are void of the founding Fathers of this nation. Homosexuality is a norm. New laws now mandate in many states and growing that two of the same sex can now be legally married, regardless of Gods design for the union of marriage between man and woman.The the list goes on and on. Eyes are turned against God and His Holy Word. Hearts are literally hardened to the truth of Jesus Christ.

Sin causes hearts to grow cold, especially when it is continual and unrepeated. If we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive our sin. (1John 1:9) If we do not confess our sin then a cumulative effect will sear the conscience and will make it difficult to distinguish what is right from wrong. If we are relentless and continue to engage in sin, there will come a time when God will hand us over to our debased mind and let us have it our way. Godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth are eventually given over to their sinful desires. (Romans 1:18-24)

When God brought the Israelites out of Egypt from bondage many often think, wow they just did not get it! After all the miracles; parting of the Red Sea, daily manna from heaven or the abundance of water bursting forth from rocks in the desert. The children of Israel tempted the Lord asking,' is the Lord among us or not?' I can not count the times I have done that after all the Lord has done for me. How easily I can forget all of His glorious, wondrous signs and miracles in my life. I will wonder, 'does God not hear my prayer?' The disciples were concerned because they had little manna with them after Jesus had just fed the multitudes of thousands with 5 loaves of bread and three fish. How soon we can forget the miracles our Lord has given to us. So even the most faithful Christian is not immune to a hardened heart. Oh praise to God that His grace and mercy flow continually in the midst of His children.

When the spies came back from Canaan the Israelites turned negative saying they were going to be massacred by giants. They complained hour after hour. After all the signs and promises of God and they still did not believe. The only thing that got the Israelites was there inability to believe. God said they would not see the land. Only two men stood up for God; Joshua and Caleb. God tells us not to have an evil heart of unbelief so we are not hardened in our sin. Unbelief is the unwillingness to trust God. We can trust Jesus for eternity but often times struggle to trust Him for our daily manna. In doing so we will miss all that God has for us and wants us to have.

In our Christian walk it is not so much how we start but how we finish! I always want to believe there is much more God can give. When we allow the deceit of the world to squelch our lives what started out as on fire for Lord, the heart can be hardened. There are times we can feel like we are stranded in the seas. We can anchor our life by seeking God daily and first place. (Matthew 6:31-33) If you are out in the seas it is not to late to come back into the harbor of God. Turn back, now! God wants to give us rest on our journey. He wants us to delight in His very best for us. When we are obedient and seek Him first all these things will be added unto us.

If you have left a church for what ever the reason get back in or find a new church where you can fellowship with other believers, worship and hear the word of God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17) The enemy wants us to stray away from the Word of God. He only comes to steal, kill and destroy.(John 10:10) What a better way then to get us out of the true Church of God.

Hearts can become hardened when we suffer setbacks and disappointments in life. No one is immune to the trials we will have here on earth. Steel is forged by a blacksmith and his hammer. Our faith will be strengthened by the trials we encounter in the valleys of this life. We also rejoice in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character, and character hope. And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. (Romans 5:3-5)

It is not to late until it is to late. Children of God know the beginning from the end. We do not know all of what is in between. If we repent and turn from our wicked ways God will heal our land. God still sits on the throne! Hearts are hardened to God and His Living and Holy Word. Children of God let us pray and stand firm in our message of salvation. Now is not the time to be still church. Evil is lurking, do not be afraid or anxious for nothing. (Phil 4: 4-5)

If you fall know you are loved and rise up. Get back into the harbor with God. Get back into the boat. God will never leave nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5) You are not alone. Not only are a there a host of brothers and sisters in Christ who love you. Jesus LOVES you. He is for us and not against us. How blessed wonderful is that? No matter what you have been through God understands and cares. NO sin is too much for Him to forgive and forget unless one quench the Holy Spirit of God and deny Him. His hand is here now and always to pull us up and light the way. Take good care not to allow your heart to grow cold or hard to the ways of Almighty God. Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no one will go to the Father except by Him. (John 14:6)

If you have never made Jesus Lord and Savior of your life then ask Him into your heart as your Lord, repent of your sins, believe by faith through grace that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead so we could be made righttous before God and you will be saved.. (Romans 10:9-10) If you said that prayer it is time to start you walk of salvation. Get a Bible, and start to read it Get into a Bible based church and hang on to the seat of your pants for the ride of your life. All Glory to God our Father! Welcome to the Family of God. You are His Child. How heavenly huge and glorious. Your future is light and heaven bound. The angels in heaven rejoice when one is born again from above.Keep going and do not give up. (Phil 4:13)
